Interview With Nicole Rose

You may have noticed that I haven't been blogging a lot lately. I apologize. It seems that almost every post I've been writing lately starts off with me apologizing about my blogging absence. From now on, I'm going to try my very best to post at least once week for you guys, and hopefully a lot more now since my summer break is nearly here. :D
Anywho, I recently had the glorious opportunity to participate in a interview swap kind of thing with the well-known and loved blogger and web designer, Nicole Rose! :)

Q. Hello Rose! I'm so happy that you were able to join us today! Why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself; your personality, your hobbies, and anything else you'd like to share.

A. Well, hello everyone. :) I'm Nicole Rose (but you can call me Rose or Rosie). I'm a teen from the US who has been blogging for almost three years now. I believe creative expression and self-love are important things every person needs in order to live a fulfilling life. I own a cool shop and enjoy indulging myself with peanut butter cups as I work.My personality - according to the Meyer-Briggs test - is INFJ. This basically means that I'm a very introverted, imaginative humanoid. (More on how you can benefit from knowing your personality type here!My hobbies include blogging, writing, web design, and anything that feels like self-expression - which could vary from painting to photography, depending on my mood. :)

Q. I would like to start off with the usual questions: what inspired your blog and when did you decide to create your own blog?

A. Phew, okay.I decided to create my very first blog on October 11th, 2011. I was very into American Girl dolls at the time, and with new enabled access to the internet I ended up unlocking the realm of blogging. I discovered American Girl Fan, a wonderful site by a sweet girl named Liz and she inspired me to create my own blogging community, based around AG dolls. But after about a year of that, I grew out of dolls and decided to move on to something new.I created my current blog some time in November of 2012, but officially moved to it a few months later, shutting down my old site. My site's name was A Dancer's Pointe, but after I grew out of dance, I renamed it Truly. Madly. Deeply. And after I felt like I needed a change, I changed it (AGAIN) to Self Known, at the beginning of this year. :)

Q. I know you enjoy both writing and web design. If you couldn't do both, and had to give up either writing or web design for the rest of your life, which one would you pick, and why?

A. Oh WOW. Hard question. I think, if I had to choose, I'd choose to give up web design. Writing has constantly been an escape for me, and I've been using my words to get my point across for as long as I've been alive. And though web design is something I've come to adore, writing will always have the number one place in my heart.

Q. What do you enjoy most about writing and what inspired you to start writing?

A. I love digging deep. I love creating tension, honing in on drama and using my emotions to fuel a scene. And because writing is something I use to express any powerful emotions (like anger or joyfulness, for example) I could be feeling, I think that's why I enjoy it so much. I've gone through some tough times (I mean, who hasn't?) and the only way to escape was through words. With that said, that's partially why I started writing. I wanted to escape. And I saw - read, rather - that other people could do it through their novels, so I figured, why not do the same? I've always been writing though. Even when I was younger I wrote little novels about ballerinas and grumpy people who lived down the street. I'm full of ideas. Weird, wacky, not all good ideas. But ideas nonetheless.

Q. If you ever got a chance in the future, would you move from where you live? Or would you simply stay at home and travel to other places instead? Why?

A. I would love to move. The wonderful woods of Colorado are constantly calling my name. But I also love the idea of traveling to new places and having all sorts of adventures, so... Is both an option?

Q. How do you get inspired to write such wonderful posts?

A. Oh darling, you're much too kind.My inspiration for blog posts comes from many different sources. Like other bloggers for instance (though I never copy an idea without permission) or books I've read. Even my school work has inspired me. Because I'm an imaginative being, I like to think about things and pretend I'm deep. And when I get deep, my muse visits - if I'm lucky, of course. If I'm ever struck with an idea I write it down on my phone or use nearby scratch paper. There is inspiration everywhere and if you can find it, use it.

Thank you so much for giving me this wonderful opportunity Rose.

  1. I write for the same reasons as you do, Rose! :) I have to get over my procrastination right now; it's the only thing stopping me from reaching my writing dreams right now. It seems like everyone is an INFJ; most of my friends are that particular type, or ExxP, but oh well. I also saw the interview of you, Aliah, on Self Known; nice job. ^.^

    xoxo Morning

  2. This is so inspiring! :) Great interview.
