Don't Tell Anyone

Don't tell anyone,
but I sold my soul to the wildflowers.
I let their shades of indigo and
purple hues
devour what was left of me.
I let myself roll down
the dark green hills and let the grass'
uneven edges prick my fingertips
as they brushed through.
Don't tell anyone,
but I sold my soul to the golden beams
of sunlight fighting to shine through the
small holes in the treetops.
I let the humid air swirl around me
as the faint breeze touched my cheeks.
Don't tell anyone,
but I sold my soul to the fluffy white clouds
that looked as if they had been
painted onto the baby blue sky.
I let the richness of the dark earth swallow me
and let the scrap-booked leaves
crunch beneath me.
Don't tell anyone,
but I sold my soul to mistiest of things,
to the dreamiest of things,
to the brightest of things,
to the greatest of things.
Don't tell anyone,
but I sold my soul to the
wildflowers.
